Modular Inclusion, the Hawking Temperature and Quantum Field Theory in Curved Space-time

چکیده
A recent result by Borchers connecting geometric modular action, modular inclusion and the spectrum condition, is applied in quantum eld theory on spacetimes with a bifurcate Killing horizon (these are generalizations of black hole space-times, comprising the familiar black hole spacetime models). Within this framework we give suucient, model-independent conditions ensuring that the temperature of thermal equilibrium quantum states is the Hawking temperature.

Introduction to Quantum Fields in Curved Spacetime and the Hawking Effect
These notes introduce the subject of quantum field theory in curved spacetime and some of its applications and the questions they raise. Topics include particle creation in time-dependent metrics, quantum origin of primordial perturbations, Hawking effect, the trans-Planckian question, and Hawking radiation on a lattice. Based on lectures given at the CECS School on Quantum Gravity in Valdivia,...
متن کاملNew Dual Relations between Quantum Field Theory and String Regimes in Curved Backgrounds
AR ”dual” transform is introduced which relates Quantum Field Theory and String regimes, both in a curved background with D-non compact dimensions. This operation maps the characteristic length of one regime into the other (and, as a consequence, mass domains as well). The R-transform is not an assumed or a priori imposed symmetry but is revealed by the QFT and String dynamics in curved backgro...

Quantum Field Theory (QFT) in Curved Spacetime is a hybrid approximate theory in which quantum matter fields are assumed to propagate in a fixed classical background gravitational field. Its basic physical prediction is that strong gravitational fields can polarize the vacuum and, when timedependent, lead to pair creation just as a strong and/or time-dependent electromagnetic field can polarize...
متن کاملOn the Particle Definition in the presence of Black Holes
A canonical particle definition via the diagonalisation of the Hamiltonian for a quantum field theory in specific curved space-times is presented. Within the provided approach radial ingoing or outgoing Minkowski particles do not exist. An application of this formalism to the Rindler metric recovers the well-known Unruh effect. For the situation of a black hole the Hawking temperature exhibits ...
متن کاملBlack Hole Emission in String Theory and the String Phase of Black Holes
The quantum string emission by Black Holes is computed in the framework of the ‘string analogue model’ (or thermodynamical approach), which is well suited to combine quantum field theory (QFT) and string theory in curved backgrounds (particulary here, as black holes and strings posses intrinsic thermal features and temperatures). String theory properly describes black-hole evaporation. The blac...
